Fear and Apprehension
“Are you apprehensive?”
This question was asked of me by my brother-in-law about my neck surgery happening on Tuesday of this week in New York City.
Been chewing on this off and on since he asked, so I wanted to share my thoughts with you too.
Do I have fear about the surgery?
Yes, any surgery brings with it an element of fear of the risks involved. Especially with a surgery that involves the spinal cord.
It’s taken some processing, some (respectfully) challenging the surgeon, and feeling the sadness that comes with the grief. Grief that the path I had in mind of having both hips done this year is not the path that will be reality.
God has laid out a different path.
His path is always better than mine.
So my job is to learn to love the thing that I wish had not happened and move forward.
So am I apprehensive and hesitant to move forward?
Not one bit.
Happy Grit Growing.
