Wandering vs Deciding

If I had figured this out sooner, it would have saved me a lot of heartache.

A few years ago, I was stuck and frustrated. Inside, I was in knots most days. I wish I could tell you that I didn’t know what it was.

I knew exactly what is was.

I was wandering.

I knew that I wanted to write a book and try my hand at public speaking.

That dream had been within me since being a teenager.

But over the years, life (aka excuses) got in the way. They got in the way from making any kind of real progress on that dream.

Why?

Fear.

Fear led to indecision. Indecision led to a life of wandering.

Then after doing a lot of deep work, I decided it was time to start.

So I started with building a writing habit. For the next 365 days, I wrote and shared it on LinkedIn. I shared personal stories, lessons learned, and current events.

Was it scary? Yes.

But it changed me, from a wanderer to a decision maker.

Every day I decided to write. Every day I decided to “hit” publish.

In that year, I went from 500 followers to over 3500. As a result, I even got a couple of speaking gigs and podcast appearances.

All because I made a decision instead of wandering.

Wandering leads to frustration.
Deciding leads to freedom.

Wandering leads to being stuck.
Deciding leads to clarity.

Wandering is passive.
Deciding is intentional.

Prioritize deciding this week.
